The March meeting of the Fostoria Coin Club was called to order on March 17th, 2025, at 7:30pm by President Brandeberry, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 24 members and 1 guest (Dennis Menta) present.
Illnesses: Otto Blackburn is in Findlay, Rich McClellan is at Sunrise, and Roger Keefe is now at home and recovering.
The minutes were read and revised to show Chuck had contacted Rex James in Nov. to discuss when meetings are and suggested to him to come to future meetings. The treasury report was reviewed and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Coin World Magazine was discussed again and weekly issues are still not being delivered. Chuck contacted them and they stated they are still having problems.
Chuck passed out an article about the costs of coin production.
Vini spoke to the mint about 2025 pennies being available in their mint sets – mint was not sure.
2026 Anniversary pennies are still being planned for production.
2025 proof sets are on ebay with and without the penny included on ebay.
Carson City dollars were also discussed.
Show Business:
Times for setup and cleanup were discussed as well as who would be handling certain tasks.
12 dealers were lined up as of the meeting date.
For the duplicate table, make sure items are marked with name and price.
Need everyone helping sell raffle tickets.
Nate Elliot will be the security starting at 8am, at $40/hr.
NEW BUSINESS:
The club learned of Gary's father passing in January and expressed its condolences.
New member, Andrew Weyer, was voted in.
Guest, Dennis Menta, will be voted on at the April meeting.
There are 2 Red Books left, if not sold to members they will be at the show.
Dues for 2025 need to be paid to Vini as soon as possible.
Kennedy halves are still available to any members who have not received theirs.
Doug Beach brought wheat pennies to sell
There will be a special anniversary half dollar minted next year.
Harry and Gary motioned and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Door prizes were drawn, and an auction followed.
